The Media Momentum 2009 awards gala was a fantastic event, attracting the ‘who is who' of Europe's digital media world. Hosted at Sketch, everyone agreed that Positive Digital, 2009's featured digital agency, created an amazing ambiance with their visual displays and countdown presentation. Ajaz Ahmed, Founder and Chairman of AKQA, addressed the crowd and talked about his experience in building up AKQA, now one of UK's leading Agencies.
The Top 50 companies in the 2009 list collectively grew their revenue base from €380m to an incredible €1,103m in a 3 year period, certainly plenty of reason to celebrate. Joe Cohen picked up two awards for Seatwave which was listed as number 1 on the top 50 league table, and also won the Best Management Award. The Fastest Growing Larger Company Award, the top 15 table for companies' with revenues above €10m in the base year, was won by Velti. Hilmur Veigar Petursson picked up the Vision&Future Growth potential for his gaming company, CCP Games. Moneybookers was the judging panel's overall favorite and won both Best Execution Award and the Judges Award.

Seatwave is a fan-to-fan ticket exchange, an online marketplace for buying and selling tickets for theatre, sport, music and other live events. It has more than 700,000 tickets on sale at any one time, which is 20 times more than eBay and is today Europe's largest pure play ticket exchange. The Company is based in London, and launched in February 2007 by Joe Cohen and early stage VC firm Atlas Venture. Seatwave was featured on Media Momentum's "Ones to Watch" list in 2008.

Velti has established operations in 25 countries as a mobile marketing technology platform, providing technology and services to enable businesses to deliver mobile marketing and advertising. The Mobile Marketing Platform (v4.0) has the ability to reach an estimated 1.4bn consumers and manages the full cycle of planning, execution and monitoring of multiple campaigns across differing mobile formats and channels, offering customers more than 70 mobile marketing and advertising templates. In each of the last 3 years, revenues have doubled. Founded in 2000 by Alex Moukas and Chris Kaskavelis.

Best Execution Award & Judges Award
Moneybookers Ltd. is one of Europe's largest online payments systems and eWallet providers, and currently has over seven million account holders. Founded by Daniel Klein and Benjamin Kullman in 2001, the company is based in London and is backed by Investcorp Technology Partners and Gatcombe Park Ventures Ltd, London. The eWallet service provided by the company enables a customer to securely pay online without revealing personal financial data, as well as to send and receive money transfers by using an email address. Moneybookers' worldwide payment network offers businesses access to over 60 payment options in over 200 countries. More than 35,000 merchants use Moneybookers' payments service, including global partners such as eBay, Skype and Thomas Cook. Total revenue for 2008 was up 88% on 2007.

The company currently has 20 million people using its services and has facilitated the identification of over 100 million music tracks across the globe and estimates that its services will be available on more than 250 million mobile phones by the end of 2009.

CCP is engaged in the development and marketing of single-server persistent universe architecture as the developer and publisher of EVE Online, a science fiction-based massively multiplayer online game (MMOG). The company is privately held and was founded in Reykjavik, Iceland in 1997, where it retains its head office. CCP's international reach now also spans the globe with offices in Atlanta and Shanghai as well as a base of operations in London. The company's main product, EVE Online, is set tens of thousands of years in the future and offers a journey filled with adventure, riches, danger and glory. EVE Online currently has over a quarter of a million subscribers worldwide that all inhabit the same virtual universe.
